Paris Regional Medical Center is proud to announce the hiring of a new director of Health Information Management, as Bonnie Paugh accepted the position this week.
Paugh has 20 years of experience working with medical records and previously served the same position of Nashville General Hospital, Valley View Medical Center and Lea Regional Medical Center.
“The hospital is very pleased to have recruited Mrs. Paugh to join our leadership team,” CEO of PRMC, Steve Grubbs, said. “Her experience and leadership ability will be a great asset to our hospital and to the Health Information Management Department.”
Paugh received her Associate of Applied Sciences Degree in Health Information Management from Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio.
She maintains professional memberships in the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the Middle Tennessee Health Information Management Association (MTHIMA). She is also accredited as a registered Health Information Technician since 1993.
A critical responsibility of the director of HIM is to ensure that the hospital remains compliant with all confidentiality guidelines and regulatory bodies, with respect to documentation of a patient record, PRMC officials said.
“We take the privacy and confidentiality of these records very seriously, and our goal is to make sure that we have available for every patient care provider the information needed to treat their patients,” Paugh said in reference to her new role. “We will house those records according to all state and federal regulations.”
As part of the job duties, Paugh will assist the hospital with the continued transition to an electronic medical record, making them more accessible for physicians to work with.
