Doris Canida Barnes, 80, of Powderly, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013, while surrounded by her loving family.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 8 -9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Barnes, the daughter of Velma & Lillie Mae Kirkpatrick Canida, was born January 26, 1933, in Petty, Texas.
Her career with Southwestern Bell Telephone spanned thirty-two years before her retirement. Once retired she filled her hours working at Braums the next eight years. After that her main focus was her children & grandchildren. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and The Telephone Pioneers.
On March 30, 1956, she married Roger B. Barnes, building forty-eight years of family and memories before his death on July 17, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, J. D. Canida.
Survivors include three children, Roger Wayne Barnes of Powderly, Diane Barnes of Paris and Darla Lyons & husband Jason of Atlas, grandchildren: Stephanie Ellis, Aaron Barnes & wife Savanha, Amanda Frey & husband Dan, Matthew Geurin, Justin Geurin, Garrett Lyons & Dalton Lyons, great grandchildren: KeShauwn Ellis, Tamarrie Ellis, Riley Barnes, Alivia Barnes, Celeste O’Dell, Chase Frey, Ian Frey, Tyler Zane Geurin & Aydan Jones-Geurin, one sister, Oneida Moore & husband Wendell, one brother, Tommy Canida & wife Donna along with numerous nieces, nephews & a host of friends.
Casket bearers will be: Larry Barnes, Aaron Barnes, Matthew Geurin, Justin Geurin, Garrett Lyons, Chase Frey, Brian McKinnon and KeShauwn Ellis.

Mary Evelyn Brown, 47, of Sumner, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31st, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Tom O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mary, the daughter of Alfred & Mary Juanita Horton Arnold, was born Oct. 2, 1965, in Paris.
She graduated from North Lamar High School and worked seventeen years for Delta Home Health. She was currently employed at Stillhouse Rehabilitation & Care Center. Mary was a member of Bonham Street Church of Christ.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, David Brown, whom she married on Dec. 28, 1985, two children, Joni Lynn Brown of Sumner and Angela Courtney of Arlington, two brothers, Mark Arnold & wife Melissa of Sumner and Adam Arnold of Dallas along with several nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
Casket bearers will be: Jason Brown, Shawn Brown, Josh Arnold, Aaron Arnold, Tommy Arnold and Steven Arnold.

Richard Boyer, 69, of Blossom, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 9:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at Knights of Honor Cemetery with William St. John officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Boyer was born March 9, 1944, in New Jersey.
He was a member of the Church of Christ. His career with Paris Junior College in the Maintenance Department spanned a number of years before his retirement.
Survivors include two children, Melissa Fox & husband Andrew of Paris and Debra Boyer of Tennessee, grandchildren, Hanna & Madison Fox along with a host of friends.
