Evelyn Schmidt a resident of Paris, Texas passed away September 3, 2013 at Dubuis Hospital of Paris in Paris, Texas. Evelyn reached the age 73 years.

Evelyn was married to Kenneth Schmidt on September 30, 1956. They were together almost 57 years. Evelyn often worked sitting for the sick and people in need. They have been residents of Lamar Co. for 32 years. Those left to cherish fond memories are her husband, Kenneth; two sons, Allen and wife Paula of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Todd of Paris and one daughter, Connie and husband Buddy Pryor of Brookston, Texas; three brothers, LeeRoy, Jake and Lincoln; two sisters, Mabel and Lorena. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday Sept. 7 at West Haven Mennonite Church, Brookston, Texas.

Viewing is scheduled for Friday September 6, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been set up in the care of West Haven Mennonite Church, 303 CR 35550 Sumner, TX 75486.

Image (5)Wilma De Alva Jackson, 90, of Powderly passed away Monday, September 2, 2013 in Legend’s Healthcare.

She was born on July 16, 1923 in Fannin County a daughter of Ernest L. And Eunice Vivian Jones McCleary. She was affectionately known as “Mama D” and was loved by everyone who knew her. She was retired from Texas Instruments and was a member of the Powderly Church of Christ.

Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her spouse James Clabe Jackson, her parents, 3 infant sons, 2 brothers and a sister.

She is survived by her sons Larry Jackson of Powderly, Ronnie Jackson and wife Vickie of Ovilla, Cleburn Jackson and wife Edith of Powderly, and Roger Jackson and wife Vicki of Powderly; 10 Grandchildren, 20 great- grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 5, 2013 in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with David Ballard officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Chapel Cemetery with grandsons Larry James Jackson, Rodney Brent Jackson, Russ Wayne Jackson, Leon Brent Jackson, Jimmy Jackson, Steve Jackson serving as pallbearers. Family will receive family and friends from 6:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home where online condolences may be sent by visiting www.fry-gibbs.com. The family will gather at the home of Cleburn and Edith Jackson after the graveside services.
