— Americana recording artist releases a new twist on the roots sound; Paris songwriter Casey McCoy Cainan releases African Americana.
Casey McCoy Cainan, while under contract to train lions and tigers in South Africa, decided to put on record some of the songs he had penned since his arrival in December 2012.
Without the aid or backing of a label, Cainan sought out the help of his friend, producer Joe Hardy (ZZ Top, Brooks & Dunn, Steve Earle).
“With Hardy in the producers seat, what ensued was magic,” Cainan said. “African sounds mixed with ‘rootsy’ Americana.”
Casey says the title African Americana came easy.
“It wasn’t just a clever play on words, but rather a new twist on old sounds,” he said.
Rich acoustic guitars and African percussion fill out the nine songs on the record nicely.
With special appearances by Mike McClure (Great Divide, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Tom Skinner) and Jon Knudson, this album is chalked full of ‘red dirt’ sounds from the lands of Africa.
The record is currently available on iTunes, Amazon and many other digital outlets, as well as Casey’s official website, www.CaseyCainan.com.
Now Casey is back in America (for a little while), and although he’s been on the road his entire life with different circuses as a ringmaster and training wild cats, he calls Paris his home — moving here in 2000.
In support of this new record and for his hometown fans, Casey will be performing at Buffalo Joe’s on Thursday, November 14, at around 8:00 p.m. with local favorite Michael Oneal.
Casey will have new t-shirts and hard copies of his second release Wrong Turns — recorded in Paris — available for purchase at the show.
If you come to the show on Thursday, you will likely get to see Casey eat fire and hear some of his amazing tiger training, circus stories.
