The Paris Public Library will hold a special book signing, featuring Grammy award-winning opera singer, Jay Hunter Morris, on Saturday, November 30, according to library director Priscilla McAnally.
Morris was born in Paris and attended Paris High School and Paris Junior College, continuing his education at Baylor University and then the Julliard School of Music.
“Mr. Morris is a singer with the Metropolitan Opera,” McAnally said. “He is a Grammy-winning tenor whose roles have included Captain Ahab in Moby Dick, Siegfried in Wagner’s the Ring, Lennie in Of Mice and Men and Lohengrin in Lohengrin.”
He will be signing his newly published book Diary of a Redneck Opera Zinger, which is, according to Morris from the Amazon.com book disclaimer, part autobiography, part inspiration and part unrepentant potty humor.
If you’re wondering why it’s opera ‘zinger’ with a ‘z’ instead of opera ‘singer’, you’ll have to read his very entertaining and hilarious book to find out.
From 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Morris will be at the Paris Public Library — 326 South Main Street — to sign and discuss his book for his hometown fans, who will have the chance to meet him and ask questions about his career and the book.
The event is hosted by the Library Advisory Board, Paris Public Library and friends of the library.
