Fit City Paris is joining forces with Fit City Tyler’s coalition and their regional weight loss challenge – Lighten Up East Texas.
Lighten Up East Texas is a regional weight loss challenge, created by the Fit City Tyler coalition, in which individuals, teams and communities can compete to lose weight and improve their health. There is no cost to participate.
Sponsored in part by Allen Samuels Tyler and the Brookshire Grocery Company, participants from all over East Texas can join together to create a healthier East Texas community.
Participants will receive entries into a grand prize drawing for every 5 percent of weight that is lost, which is calculated from an official starting weight and a final weight that is obtained at the end of the challenge.
Participants can enter from now until March 31, or they can choose to register at any Lamar County public weigh in location:
- CrossFit — 4625 Lamar Avenue — Mondays-Fridays, 7:30 am – 7:30 pm

The grand prize drawing will be a new 2014 Dodge Dart, donated by Allen Samuels Tyler. Other great prizes will include $5,000 in Brookshire’s gift cards, usable at any Brookshires and any Super1Foods location in East Texas.
“Our goal for this event is to encourage East Texans to take control of their health, to make smart and healthy choices, to make time for physical activity and to ultimately lose weight in a healthy way,” said George Roberts, chief executive officer of NET Health and co-chair of the Fit City Challenge. “This is a great way for Paris and Lamar County to get healthy as a community.”
Individuals from across East Texas are encouraged to participate.
