James Edwin Shamblin, 85, of Paris passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 in Brentwood Terrace.
He was born on January 18, 1927 in Addielou, Red River County, Texas a son of Joseph Edwin and Corilla Hanley Shamblin. Mr. Shamblin retired from Better Monkey Grip as a Senior Compounder and for many years was a supervisor for Green Thumb Program. He was a member of the Providence Baptist Church and was ordained as a deacon in 1979 in the Leesville Baptist Church. James was very active in church serving also as a trustee, Sunday School teacher, and taught little boys. He was a member of the Paris Masonic Lodge and had been a Mason for 60 years and served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Shamblin was an avid hunter and received a certificate for setting a state record from the National Wildlife Association for killing a twenty-five point buck.
On August 23, 1946 he married Bernice June McGee in Dallas giving them 66 years of family memories. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James East and sister Cora Jo Johnson.
He is survived by his wife Bernice Shamblin; children Ellen Shamblin McAdams and husband Eddie of Carrollton, Texas and Leanna Shamblin of Paris; grandchildren Jeffrey Lynn McAdams of San Antonio, Tx and Kristyn Leigh McAdams Sayroo and husband David of Houston, Tx.; great grandchildren Vanessa Sayroo and Kaleigh Sayroo both of Houston.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 17, 2013 in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Michael King and Rev. Jimmy Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the LeesvilleCemetery with Masonic Rites by the Paris Masonic Lodge. Pallbearers will be Victor Adams, Ron Reuse, Jeff McAdams, David Sayroo, Mark Russell, and Vance Barksdale.
