Dorothy Mae O’Brien, 77, of Paris, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013.
Services, with Eastern Star Rites, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18th at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Patrick Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in Restland Cemetery at Roxton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
Mrs. O’Brien, the daughter of Teory & Mamie Smith McGrew, was born Jan. 31, 1935, in Roxton.
She graduated from Roxton High School in 1953, and that same year married Scott Claibourne O’Brien. Following several moves with Southwestern Bell, they settled in Farmers Branch. In 1972, they moved to the Rawhide Community of Lamar County and then several years later they moved to Mineola.
She retired from the Child Support Division of the Attorney General’s Office.
Dorothy was of the Baptist faith and was a longtime member of the Eastern Star.
She was a very caring person – being a caretaker for family and others and a charitable giver.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on March 23, 2012 and siblings: Douglas McGrew, Helen McCain, Johnny McGrew, Thelma Tulley and T. J. McGrew.
Survivors include her children, Deborah Wilson of Paris and Tony O’Brien & wife Julie of Conroe, grandchildren – whom she loved very much, Emily Wilson, Erin Fortenberry & husband Webb, Elysha Stevens & husband Jared, Kaylie Smith & husband Clay, Kaleb O’Brien & Kelcie O’Brien, great grandchildren, Addison Mae & Joe Grady Fortenberry, a sister, Ruth Hagood of Roxton along with several nieces & nephews.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Springlake Assisted Living Memory Care for the care given their loved one.

Johnny L. Freelen, 69, of Paris, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 19th, at Living Word Pentecostal Church, 902 S. Main St., with Rev. Tiny Freelen & Rev. Hank Freelen officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Johnny, the son of Tiny John & Mary Dotson Freelen, was born Dec. 17, 1943, in Waterloo, IL.
He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. Following his return from the service he married Bunnie Burns on Nov. 9, 1963, building forty-nine years of family and memories.
He worked for Lamar County before beginning his career with the City of Paris which spanned twenty years before his retirement in 2004.
Johnny was a member of Living Word Pentecostal Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Rickey Freelen & Gary Freelen and by two sisters, Mary Jane Kelley & Dorothy Jo Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Bunnie, two sons, Tony Joe Freelen of Paris and Jesse Freelen & wife Tina of Paris, a daughter, Joannie Gibson of Paris, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, four brothers, Donnie Freelen of Paris, Virgil Freelen & wife Dee Dee of Paris, Hank Freelen & wife Sandy of Arlington and Tiny Freelen & wife Sissie of Paris, two sisters-in-law, Donna Freelen & Sandy Freelen both of Paris along with numerous nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
Casket bearers will be: Ryan Freelen, John Cunningham, Chris Freelen, Tyler Honeywell, Donavan Kelley, Sam Money, R. L. Miner and Bruce Freelen. J. D. Freelen will serve as an alternate bearer.

David Dwayne White, 70, of Powderly, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17th, at Red Hill Cemetery with Robert Kinsey officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. White, the son of Otis & Alta Ford White, was born April 15, 1942, in Lamar County.
He graduated from Powderly High School, attended Paris Junior College, and retired from the Paris Orthopedic Clinic. Dwayne was active in Teen League Baseball and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David Ritchie White, a brother, Orville White, a sister, Pat Juhlin, and a nephew, Mike Juhlin.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Graham White, whom he married on April 26, 1963, a son, Joe David White & wife Paula of Reno, granddaughter, Katie White of Mesquite, a grandson, Ryan White of Reno, two brothers, Darrell White & wife Sandra of Paris and Kerry White & wife Kathy of Cookeville along with several nieces & nephews and a plethora of friends.
Casket bearers will be: Brent White, Wade White, Henry Ford, Jerry Ford, Joe Vaughan and Eric Juhlin.
