Myra Joyce Wirta, 69, of Paris passed away Monday, January 21, 2013 at her residence.
She was born in Lamar Co., near Dial on May 5, 1943 a daughter of Ernest Marshall Joyce and Mary Jane White Joyce. Myra was retired from Campbell Soup Company. She was a member of ImmanuelBaptistChurch where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir and especially loved singing in the Christmas Tree Cantata. She enjoyed dining out with friends and family and loved arranging special luncheons. She married James M. Wirta on April 28, 1978 in First Christian Church in Paris. The marriage was officiated by the Rev. Raymond Armstrong.
Myra is survived by her husband James M. Wirta; brother Bobby Joyce; sister Rosemary Bowlby; sister-in-law Della Joyce; nephew Marshall Joyce; nieces Karen Moore, Susan Aaron, Tonya Schee, and Debra Jankowski. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Martin Joyce and a sister Gloria Carder.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 25, 2013 in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Scott and Rev. Eric Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Honey Grove with Steve Gray, Ronnie Blair, Randy Ratliff, Richard Manning, Jerry Preston, and Craig Bryant serving as pallbearers. Family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Beatrice Shannon Collier, 89, of Paris, died at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Colonial Lodge Retirement Center in Paris. Funeral services are set for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Hilton and Rev. Kathy French officiating. Bea was born March 4, 1923 in Sylvan to W.A. and Allie Wirt Johnson Shannon. She graduated from Deport High School and Paris Junior College. Mrs. Collier married John Aaron Collier on July 17, 1948. He died March 18, 2003. She was a beautician and owned the Cut-n-Curl salon in Denton. She later worked along-side her husband as bookkeeper in the family home construction business in Denton for many years. She was a member of the Blossom United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, Don Collier and wife, Dormer of Mineral Wells, Texas; four grandchildren, Don Collier, Jr., Jamie Viluan and wife, Dana, Jason Viluan and wife, Lisa, and Jana Donald and husband, John, all of Honolulu, Hawaii; six great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings, Rachel, Travis, Vera May, Wayne, Perry, Dorothy, Delorese, Robert, and Ann.
Pallbearers will be Rick Shannon, Norman Shannon, Kelly Worthey, Todd Worthey, Randy Blackburn, Bob Barnett, Dee Worthey, James Blackburn, Fred McNeal, and Conner Barnett.

Wallace S. “Jim” Williams, Jr., 67, of Paris, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 in Legend Healthcare of Paris. Funeral services are set for 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 23, 2013 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with his pastor, Rev. Brad Crosswhite officiating. He was born July 13, 1945 in West Carroll, Louisiana, a son of Wallace Sylvester and Maxine McDaniel Williams. He was a graduate of Garrison High School in Garrison, Texas. Following graduation, he enjoyed a career in sheet metal fabrication that spanned 35 years until his health brought about his retirement. He was a member of Lamar Point Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Williams, Sr.; his mother, Maxine Hammond; a very special dad, Gus “Jr.” Hammond; a brother, Wesley Williams; as well as a beloved brother-in-law, J.W. Sims.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Rhonda; four children, Angie Bethea of Tom Ball, Becky Drury and husband, Howard of West Jordan, Utah, Carrie Patrick and husband, Scott of Allen, and Cory Lehtinen and wife, Stacy of Princeton; nine grandchildren who affectionately called him “Papa”, P.J. and Lacie Bethea, Zac Drury, Malarie, Austin, Zoey, Zach Lehtinen, and Maddison and Knox Patrick; one brother, Ronnie Melton and wife, Regina of Paris; three sisters, JoAnne Sims of Paris, Ginger Wallace of Cooper, and Brenda Hayes and husband, Rick of Spring; and a special sister-in-law, Norma Williams of Paris. Jim also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, and friends.
Named to serve as pallbearers are Pat Bethea, James Sims, Rick Hayes, James Williams, Paul Sims, Richard Wallace, Jr., Scott Patrick, and Cory Lehtinen.

James Edwin Shamblin, 85, of Paris passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 in Brentwood Terrace.
He was born on January 18, 1927 in Addielou, Red River County, Texas a son of Joseph Edwin and Corilla Hanley Shamblin. Mr. Shamblin retired from Better Monkey Grip as a Senior Compounder and for many years was a supervisor for Green Thumb Program. He was a member of the Providence Baptist Church and was ordained as a deacon in 1979 in the Leesville Baptist Church. James was very active in church serving also as a trustee, Sunday School teacher, and taught little boys. He was a member of the Paris Masonic Lodge and had been a Mason for 60 years and served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Shamblin was an avid hunter and received a certificate for setting a state record from the National Wildlife Association for killing a twenty-five point buck.
On August 23, 1946 he married Bernice June McGee in Dallas giving them 66 years of family memories. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James East and sister Cora Jo Johnson.
He is survived by his wife Bernice Shamblin; children Ellen Shamblin McAdams and husband Eddie of Carrollton, Texas and Leanna Shamblin of Paris; grandchildren Jeffrey Lynn McAdams of San Antonio, Tx and Kristyn Leigh McAdams Sayroo and husband David of Houston, Tx.; great grandchildren Vanessa Sayroo and Kaleigh Sayroo both of Houston.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 17, 2013 in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Michael King and Rev. Jimmy Ellis officiating. Niki C. Nowell, 49, of Paris, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Paris Regional Medical Center.

Niki, the daughter of Billy Wayne & Carolyn Godfrey Nowell, was born Jan. 1, 1964, in Paris. She attended Paris High School and was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church.
Her father and a sister, Lisa Nowell, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her mother, Carolyn Nowell, two brothers, Larry Nowell & Steven Nowell all of Paris along with several nieces & nephews.
