On Tuesday, Paris Police responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 4900 block of Bonham Street, where officers observed one vehicle in the roadway that had struck three horses and one mule, according to Paris PD Public Information Officer Curtis Garrett.
Two of the horses and the mule were deceased upon officers arrival, while another horse had sustained severe injuries and remained trapped underneath the vehicle.
The third horse had to be put down due to its injuries, according to Garrett.
The driver of the vehicle received minor injuries. It is unknown at this time who the animals belonged to.
Paris Police responded to 88 calls for service and arrested only one person for warrants on Tuesday, February 26.
