Tuesday evening, the Paris Junior College Music Department will present “A Chorale Collage” by the PJC chorale. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Ray Karrer Theater.
“There are thirty students who will perform English, American and French songs from the 20th century,” said PJC Music Instructor and Director of Choirs Philip Briggs. “This is our third annual spring concert and the largest yet. The choir is interdisciplinary and made up of music majors and music enthusiasts. The PJC Chorale is the main choral organization at the college.”
Music to be performed is from composers Gerald Finzi, Morten Lauridsen, Roger Ames, Maurice Duruflé and John Rutter.
Songs will include Duruflé’s “Ubi Caritas,” a modern composition based on a Gregorian chant, and “Sure on This Shining Night” from Nocturnes by Lauridsen. There will be two American folk songs, an English choral piece and Lauridsen’s “Dirait On” from Les Chansons des Roses, based on a French Romantic poem.
The public is invited to the free concert. For more information call 903-782-0341.
