The Paris Fire Department responded to a suspected arson house fire over the weekend, where it is believed unknown suspects threw a flaming object onto the porch area of a residence.

“The investigation into the arson is ongoing,” commented Paris Fire Marshall Dale Maberry.

According to Paris Police Public Information Officer Curtis Garrett, on December 15th officers responded to the fire call to assist the Paris Fire Department.

A witness advised officers that 2 white males were observed in the area, throwing a burning object at the back porch of the victim’s residence. The suspects then left the scene in a vehicle.

The Paris Police Department and Fire Marshall’s Office are jointly investigating the incident.

No one was injured in the fire and the flames were stopped before significant damage was done.  There was damage to the porch area and the door way, but none to the interior.

“Paris EMS arrived on the scene before the Fire Department and assisted in putting out the flames with bottles of water,” Maberry continued.  ”No one was hurt and the fire was contained.”
