On Monday afternoon Paris emergency personnel responded to the scene of a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Lamar and NE 17th Street, where a driver apparently lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the Mattress Factory Outlet commercial business sign, causing it to break and smash into the window of their MFO truck.
An employee at Mattress Factory outlet, who remained unnamed over the telephone, told the Extra! that the incident happened after hours so no one really knew what had happened, but he said according to the police, the driver was heading southbound on 17th Street — likely at a high rate of speed — when he lost control of the vehicle and slammed into the pole, also causing the damage to the truck.
No names have been released at this time, and the current condition of the driver is unknown, although he was transported to the hospital due to injuries from the accident.
