Dorothy Faye Daugherty, 85, of Paris, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 17th, at Union Grove Cemetery with The Rev. Charlotte Coyle officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Dorothy, the daughter of Alexander & Sarah Smith Daugherty, was born Sept. 7, 1927, in the Direct Community of Lamar County.
She worked at Perkins Brothers, several area drive-ins and at the Owl Drug Store where she was well liked by all the students of Paris High School. In 1964, she began her career with the Campbell Soup Company which spanned thirty-one years before her retirement in 1995. When hired by Campbell Soup she was the second female employee hired after the opening of the plant. Dorothy joined First Christian Church and was baptized on April 30, 2000.
She was a loving person who would do anything for anybody and always thought of others before herself.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her longtime friend, Dorothy Hutchings.
Survivors include her extended family, John L. Hutchings, John Robert Hutchings, Olivia Hutchings and Leah Hutchings all of Paris, a sister, Molly Bybee of Blossom, a brother, Henry Daugherty of Balch Springs, a sister-in-law, Peggy Daugherty of Paris along with many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Tommy Scroggins, 86, of Blossom, died at 10:10 AM, Sunday, April 14, 2013 at his home. Funeral services are set for 2:00 PM, Friday, April 19, 2013 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Young officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
James Thomas Scroggins was born November 11, 1926 in Sasakaw, Oklahoma to George Thomas and Pearl Pope Scroggins. He served in the United States Navy following World War II. He married Lila Mae Haskins Langerman on December 22, 1977 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Tommy was a cattle buyer for 45 years and for 17 years he owned and operated Tommy’s BB-Q in Reno. He had a deep love for country music and received his first guitar at a very early age. He later had his own radio and TV country music show in Oklahoma City. He also supported many US veteran’s causes over the years and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of Rancho Village Baptist Church in Oklahoma and in recent years he and Lila attended the Lifeline Worship Center in Reno.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Lila Scroggins of Blossom; two children, Lana Harvey Scroggins and Sheila Stewart and husband, Ron, all of Noble, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Freddy Wilson, Matthew Wilson, Whitney West, Terra Black, Paul Langerman, and Alicia Kern;
twelve great-grandchildren, Tori, Tyler, Rylee Wilson, Madison Wilson, Logan and Landen West, Emma Black, Quinton and Loraly Langerman, Brittany, Misty and Zackery Kern. He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Paul Langerman and Sheila MacAloney; and seven siblings, Merle, Marvin, Leonard and Cloyd “Moss” Scroggins, Bernice Yerby, Verda Vargas, and Laveta Tarpley.
Serving as pallbearers will be Freddy Wilson, Tyler Wilson, George Scroggins, Buster, Scroggins, John Sheperd, and Will Scroggins.

Sonia Lynette Booth, 49, of Chicota, Texas passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013.
She was born on November 10, 1963 in Oklahoma City a daughter of William Henry Esker and Janice Loudermilk. Sonia was a homemaker and will be remembered as a creative, strong willed and free spirit. Sonia loved the outdoors especially being around a body of water where she felt at peace and was a people person never meeting a stranger. The joy of her life was her children whom she loved more than life itself.
Sonia is survived by her children Chaz Wayne Booth and Candus Lynette Booth; grandchildren Jayda Nichol Booth, Brinlee Rae Booth, and Hadlee Jae Booth; her parents William Henry Esker and Janice Loudermilk; brother William Henry Esker, Jr.; sisters Sherri Corbin and Michele Cathy.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 18, 2013 in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home in Paris, Texas with Rev. Don Morton officiating. Linda A. Nix, 66, of Blossom, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her family. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home and a family directed memorial service will be held at a later date.
Linda was born August 17, 1946 in Germany and later moved to the United States where she eventually met and married Alvis Nix in 1980, building 33 years of life and memories. She is preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Chloe Nix.
Survivors include her husband Alvis Nix; sons, Chris Nix, Clay Nix, Clint Nix, Kenny Jason and Steve Jason; one daughter, Melissa Trammel; her step-father, Ernie Lowen; grandchildren, Marleigh Nix, Levi Nix, Amanda Nix, Dylan Nix and Matthew Jason; a brother, John Atkins, along with a host of friends.

Patricia Ann Misek, 63, of Blossom went to be with the Lord on April 13, 2013. A rosary at 6:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. has been scheduled for Thursday, April 18th at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home. A mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 19th at Our Lady of Victory Church, where she was a member, followed by a graveside service at Knights of Honor Cemetery in Blossom.
Patti was born in Chicago, IL on Sept 6th, 1949 to Edward and Sandra Pilip. She married Joseph G. Misek in 1975. Patti and Joe moved to Blossom in 1978, where they raised three children; Lisa, Eddie, and Tara.
Patti’s life revolved around her family and friends. She was always there to lend an ear, share a laugh or give a shoulder to cry on. She will be remembered for her warm hospitality, her loving spirit, her sense of humor, her generosity and her caring attitude. Patti blessed many lives as a wonderful mother, a doting grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, a “second” mom to her kids friends, and a best friend to many.
Patti loved her 100 year old home and was most content doing things around the house. She enjoyed gardening, decorating, crafts and hosting special occasions. She also loved motorcycle rides with her husband, and was a member of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club.
She is survived by her husband Joe, her daughter Lisa Searles and husband Michael of Rowlett, her son Edward Misek of Sherman, mother Sandra Pilip of Blossom, brother Steven Pilip of Blossom, grandchildren Anzlee, Krista and Ozlyn and several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father Edward Pilip, brother Robert Pilip, daughter Tara Misek and in-laws Joseph and Doris Misek.
Words cannot express how much she was appreciated or how much she will be missed. Her life was a testament of love and compassion, and the impressions on the hearts she touched will remain forever.
