While our temperatures were cooled down much faster than anticipated last week — leading way to a couple of nasty days of rain and cold weather — this week’s weather pattern looks to be different, as it has remained rather hot and humid over the last couple of days.

This leaves room for an unstable atmosphere of warm and moist air, while a cold front and storm system approach from our west. It has stalled some, and what was supposed to reach us today does not look to get here until late tonight or early in the morning. With that being said, you may wake up tomorrow to thunder and rain.
It is hard to tell right now the severity of these storms for our region, but it would be safe to stay on the alert side. This is a different brand of severe weather than last week, and according to meteorologists with www.Weather.com, has a more widespread and likely chance of producing severe thunderstorms with heavy straight line winds, hail and tornadoes than we’ve seen lately.

In the maps you see — compliments of The Weather Channel (www.weather.com) — show the thunderstorm forecast for tonight (Wednesday night) and tomorrow (Thursday). Notice that our area is in the severe area for tonight and tomorrow. We have a predicted 30% chance of thunderstorms tonight and a 90% chance tomorrow.
These storms and cold front will cool things off some — Thursday a low of 38 degrees and a high of 69; Friday the low will be around 38 and the high 61. It will start to warm up again over the weekend.
