TxDOT Paris District Engineer accepts position in Waco

Bobby Littlefield to become new Waco District Engineer

BGL Photo 2012Bobby Littlefield currently serves as the Texas Department of Transportation’s District Engineer for the nine county Paris District.  He supervises 267 employees responsible for the planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation of a 7100 mile system of highways.  Beginning January 7, 2013 he will become TxDOT’s District Engineer in Waco.

A native Texan, Mr. Littlefield was born in Dallas and raised in Sulphur Springs.  After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University, he went to work for TxDOT in their Sulphur Springs Area Office.  He was licensed as a Professional Engineer by the State of Texas in 1989.  In 1993, Mr. Littlefield was promoted to the position of Area Engineer in the Sherman Area Office overseeing operations in Grayson County and expanded to include Fannin County in 2000.  He began his tenure as District Engineer on December 1, 2003.  Mr. Littlefield was the recipient of the Department’s Dewitt C. Greer Award in 2003 for excellence in the engineering field.  A graduate of the Governor’s Executive Development Program, he currently serves as TxDOT’s Rural Franchise Lead and as Chairman of Research Management Committee – 2 for Planning and Environment.

Mr. Littlefield maintains membership in the Texas Public Employees Association and the Texas Good Roads/ Transportation Association.  He also serves on the Transportation Policy Board of the Sherman-Denison Metropolitan Planning Organization.  When not tending to transportation-related affairs, Mr. Littlefield, an Eagle Scout, is active with the Boy Scouts of America where he serves on the Executive Board of the Circle Ten Council.  He is also a member of the United Methodist Church and a past Rotarian having been awarded a Paul Harris Fellow.

Mr. Littlefield has two adult children, Patrick of Atlanta, Georgia and Melanie of Austin, Texas.  He is presently engaged to be married in December 2012.  In his spare time, Mr. Littlefield enjoys a variety of outdoor activities.
