Former Wildcats Head Football Coach/Athletic Director Barry Bowman will now take the job of Defensive Coordinator at Pine Tree High School in Longview.  He was once an assistant at Pine Tree before going to Daingerfield, taking them to win state three times in a row.

Coach Barry Bowman tendered his official resignation to Paris ISD Board Trustees on Tuesday, April 30th.  He accepted the job of Defensive Coordinator at Pine Tree High School in Longview.  He was officially announced DC at Pine Tree in a special board meeting on Tuesday at 12pm with their board trustees.

Paris ISD will now replace Coach Bowman with an applicant that they hope to announce toward the middle of May.

“We are going through the search process,” commented Paris ISD Superintendent Paul Jones.  ”We are now accepting applications and will up until May 10th.  We are hoping to have the candidate’s name by our next board meeting on May 13th.”

According to Jones, Bowman’s resignation came a little late in the school year and coaches usually make their move — if they are going to — around March or earlier.

“We would really like to get the new coach in place before the end of the school year to meet all the athletes and students,” stated Jones.

It was announced that the district would be accepting applications for the Athletic Director position until May 10th on the Paris ISD website.

The Superintendent and Board Trustees met and started planning on Tuesday when the resignation was official.  They will have to move quickly if they want to announce the new Athletic Director candidate by May 13th.

“I really don’t know if accepting applications until May 10th will give us enough time to get a candidate by our next board meeting,” the Superintendent stated.  ”But, that is our goal.”
