North Lamar’s School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) awarded winners of the “How do You Stay Physically Fit” poster contest. Recognizing the students in back are North Lamar SHAC Advisory Council members Assistant Superintendent Shelley McDowell, social worker Brittney White, elementary music teacher Jan McKinney, and Aaron Parker principal Tammie Bates.
Students with their winning posters from left are 1st place Jason Huddleston with his baseball drawing, 3rd place Zoey Williams showing tumbling, and 2nd place Geoffray Schaefer, with his roping poster. Wal-Mart gift cards in increments of $50, $30 and $20 were given as prizes.
SHAC is an advisory group of individuals who represent segments of the community. The group acts collectively to provide advice to the school system on aspects of the school health program. SHAC is responsible for program planning, advocacy, fiscal planning, liaison with district and state agencies, direct intervention, and evaluation, accountability, and quality control.
