Thomas Jordan0001Thomas H. Jordan, 75, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013, at his home in the Forest Chapel Community.

The family has scheduled memorial services for 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 3rd, at the Chicota Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Boylard officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home.

Thomas was born March 5, 1938, in the Powderly & Chicota area to Leonard L. & Bessie Matthews Jordan. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed giving his neighbors and friends what he had grown. He was a member of the Chicota Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Kathreen Weaver of Paris and Elizabeth Boylard of Powderly and one brother, Clifford Jordan of Powderly.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Barbara, one daughter, Shirley Clifton & husband Scott of Paris, three sons, Joey Jordan of Forest Chapel, Leslie Jordan of Paris and Eddie Jordan of Paris, one sister, Loy Allison of Powderly, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren along with numerous nieces & nephews.

He will be greatly missed by all.

Bruce Hood0002Bruce Hood, 72, of Paris, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013, at his home while surrounded by his loving family,  following a courageous battle with cancer that spanned five years.

Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled memorial services for 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 3rd,  at First Christian Church with Rev. Jim Hollingsworth and Rev. Charlotte Coyle officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Bruce, the son of Buford Allen & Euletha Green Hood, was born Aug. 15, 1940, in Lorenzo, Texas. In 1969, he relocated to Paris with Gibson’s. He then worked at

L. P. McCuistion Regional Medical Center for fourteen years before buying Morris Simmons Moving Company, which  then became Hood Moving Company. Bruce sold the company to Roger Edwards on Nov. 3, 2003. He was a member of the Antique Car Club and was a faithful  member and elder at First Christian Church here in Paris.

On Oct. 15, 1960, he married Susan Roller, and she preceded him in death on July 29, 2000. He was also preceded in death by his father, a granddaughter, Paige Elizabeth Miles on Oct. 1, 1989 and a sister, Loretta Orr.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Caldwell Hood whom he married on Sept. 28, 2002, his mother, Euletha Hood, a son, Bruce Allen Hood & wife Diana of College Station, two daughters, Karen Beth Morris & husband Lynn of Norman, OK and Hallie Lopez & husband Antonio of San Antonio, two step-daughters, Michelle Hodges & husband Steve of Whitehouse and Deena Cash & husband Steve of Ashdown, AR, a step-son, Charles Landua of Garfield, AR, grandchildren, Stuart Hood & wife Erica of Dallas, Patrick Miles & wife Stefanie of Ft. Worth, Spencer Hood of College Station, Hannah Hood of College Station, Gabrielle Morris of Norman, OK, Morgan Lockwood of San Antonio,  Josh Allen & wife Tara of Whitehouse, Brandon Allen of Heritage, PN, Matthew Landua of Paris and Hailey Landua of Paris, one great grandchild, Wyatt Case Allen of Whitehouse, a sister, Sondra Daniel & husband Lyman of Wellington along with numerous nieces & nephews and a plethora of friends.

Irene Bennett pnMrs. Ora Irene Bennett, 84, of Paris, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013 in Paris Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Bennett was born on November 12, 1928 in Clarksville, Texas a daughter of David Franklin and Ora Gamble Spangler. She married Marvin Loyd Bennett on August 4, 1945 in Clarksville. He preceded her in death in 1991. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Fay Marsh, her parents, a sister Martha Jo Landers, and her twin brother David Spangler. Mrs. Bennett was a homemaker.

She is survived by two grandsons John Marsh and wife Trevelyn and Wayne Marsh and wife Becky; two great-grandchildren Harmony Marsh and Kadence Marsh; son-in-law Gerry Marsh and nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 3, 2013 in the Evergreen Cemetery with Dr. Bobby Tollison officiating. Family will receive family and friends from 4:00 P.M. till 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home where online condolences may be sent by visiting www.fry-gibbs.com.
