Four suspects — wearing bandanas on their faces, and one carrying a gun — were involved in robbing a business yesterday evening, according to Paris Police Chief Bob Hundley.
Paris Police responded to an armed robbery call at 6:30 PM in the 600 block of NW 9th Street. Four suspects were involved, with three entering the business with bandanas on their faces.
One of the suspects was armed with a silver pistol and took money from the register. All four suspects left on foot westbound from the store. Investigation is continuing.
A call to an address in the 1100 block SE 3rd Street involving a man with a gun escalated into a high speed chase that ended on FM 1497, according to police.
Michael Scott Walker, 42, initially told dispatchers that he would shoot any police officer that came to his residence. Officers spotted the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop the driver. A short chase took place, and the car pulled over on Neagle St. for a brief moment, but then drove off again.
This portion of the chase was at low speeds, never reaching 50 mph. The pursuit took place around the southern part of Paris, with the suspect leaving the city heading out on FM 1497.
The suspect called 9-1-1 and told dispatchers he wanted to stop. After several calls between the suspect and dispatch, he finally pulled over and stopped. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. An unloaded .22 caliber rifle was found in the front seat of the vehicle. Walker was charged with felony evading arrest with a motor vehicle.
In the 24 hour period of December 27th, seven people were arrested while officers answered 83 calls for service. Two persons were arrested on public intoxication charges, two for municipal court warrants, one for assault involving family violence and criminal mischief, one for mental evaluation and one for felony theft.
