To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Tour de Paris Bicycle Rally hosted in Paris each summer, the organizers held a contest to choose the logo that would be used on all promotional materials for the event.

James Wallace of Jazzy Frog Interactive, a local website design company that has done the website design for many local businesses, won the contest with a logo that he designed on Adobe Flash.

For winning the contest, Wallace was awarded a $300 check from the Chamber of Commerce. Only the first place winner out of the twenty two entries that entered received a prize.

As the winner, Wallace had to agree that the 30th Anniversary Tour de Paris Bicycle Rally is granted exclusive reproduction rights for advertising, promotion, print publication and internet purposes.

The winning design has now become the official new logo for this year’s Tour de Paris.

The Chamber required that several things had to be included in the logo which were:

  1. Paris, Texas Eiffel Tower with red cowboy hat.
  2. Date and place of the event to include 30th Anniversary Tour de Paris Bicycle Rally, July 19th, 2014, Paris, Texas.
  3. Cycling and/or Cyclists

It also had to be geared toward cyclists and have broad appeal.

All entries were reviewed by a panel of judges selected by the Tour de Paris Bicycle Rally committee. Artwork was judged on how well the artwork communicated the 30th Anniversary Tour de Paris Bicycle Rally mission, its creativity and artistic merit.
