On Sunday evening between 7-8 p.m., firefighters responded to a structure fire in eastern Lamar County, a few miles southeast of Blossom on FM 194, where several volunteer fire departments from surrounding communities sent reinforcements to contain the blaze.
Volunteer fire departments sent trucks to the fire from as far away from the area as Hopewell, which is northwest of Paris.
A firefighter who had just arrived on the scene told eParisExtra that he was told it was shop that had caught fire, leading to some surrounding trees catching fire also. The firefighter was setting out cones to caution passing traffic.
Firefighters diligently worked to keep the fires from spreading to surrounding houses close in proximity.
