The Texas Department of Transportation is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Paul Montgomery, P.E., as the new Paris District Engineer effective March 11, 2013.
In his new role, Paul will oversee the planning, designing, building, operation and maintenance of the state transportation system in the nine-county Paris District. He has served as the Director of Maintenance in the Lufkin District since 2003.
A 25-year agency veteran, Paul started his TxDOT career in 1988 at the Tyler Residency, serving eight months before transferring to the Mineola Residency where he served as an engineering assistant involved in the design, construction and maintenance of highways over the next two years. He then spent two years in the district design section in Tyler before being elevated to Assistant Area Engineer in the Jacksonville Area Office.
While in Jacksonville, Paul oversaw the design, construction and maintenance of highways and bridges including a unique project involving the replacement of nine bridges of the Texas State Railroad for Texas Parks and Wildlife. In 1995, Paul became the Assistant Director of Maintenance in the Tyler District, and then was named the Waco District’s Director of Maintenance in 1998. In that role, Paul was responsible for all district maintenance operations and was one of the lead individuals in the development and implementation of TxDOT’s first Total Maintenance Contract. He was selected to be the Lufkin District’s Director of Maintenance in 2003.
Paul earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M University in 1987 and became a licensed professional engineer in 1992. He and his wife, Hadley, have two daughters, Olivia and Sydney, and one son, Walker.
