Ragsdale David Garrison, 80, of Detroit, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 12th, at First Christian Church of Detroit with Rev. Gary McCain & Rev. Doug Higdon officiating. Keith Burkart will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in Detroit Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Garrison, the son of Ragsdale & Mamie Latimer Garrison, was born Dec. 12, 1932, in Ft. Towson, OK.
He served in the U. S. Navy. His career with the Texas Highway Department spanned 33 years before his retirement in 1988, from the Resident Engineer’s office.
He was a member of First Christian Church of Detroit. David was an avid hunter & fisherman and loved camping, boating, square dancing and RVing from coast to coast.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Barnwell Garrison, whom he married in 1951, building sixty-one years of family and memories, three children, Mark Garrison & wife Pamela of Powderly, Liz Ann Burkart & husband Keith of Cypress and Jason Garrison & wife Jeri of Guthrie, OK, grandchildren; Brandi Jones & husband Kenneth of Powderly, Kris Garrison & wife Lesley of Granbury, Joshua Garrison & wife Jennifer of Bogata, Kevin Burkart of Houston, Rebecca Burkart of Houston and Ella Jace Garrison of Guthrie, OK, great grandchildren; Devin Jones, Layni Garrison, Zach Garrison, Carson Jones, Kayci Garrison, Marlee Garrison, Cy Garrison and Ciannah Garrison, three sisters; Mary Lee Knippenberg & husband Tom of Mt. Vernon, Elizabeth Hill & husband Claude of Georgetown, and Kay Montgomery & husband David of Hideaway, along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Casket bearers will be: Kenneth Jones, Devin Jones, Kris Garrison, Kevin Burkart, Dale Miller, David Montgomery, Tom Knippenberg and Claude Hill.
