On Wednesday, May 08, Paris Police received a report of a possible phone scam. An employee of one of the local physicans called the Police Department and advised that they received a call from a patient.
The patient told them that they had received a call from a bill collection person, who stated that they owed the physician money on a bill. The victim was suspicious and asked for a return phone number. The victim was given an ’800 number’. That number was to a pharmaceutical company.
“The Police want the public to be aware that there are persons that will try to intice you into giving personal information over the telephone,” stated Paris PD Public Information Officer Curtis Garrett. “Beware and only release personal information to known callers, or attempt to get more information as to who contacted you before releasing personal information.”
