Chazirae Canida, (pictured front left) a student at Stone Middle School, was honored for her outstanding contributions to the Texas Soil and Water Conservation Program at the Area IV Conservation Awards Banquet on May 2, 2013, in Jacksonville, Texas. Area IV consists of 50 counties in North Texas.
Soil and Water conservation Districts (SWCDs) and individuals who have dedicated their time, efforts and talents to making wise use of renewable natural resources were recognized and honored during the awards program.
North Lamar’s Chazirae Canida entered the 13 and Under Essay Contest where she won second place locally and third place at region. Pictured in front with her is her aunt, Pat Wortham. In back from left are David Basinger, President of Lamar SWCD, and family friend Jeff Carpenter.
